Dollar Days

Anyone who lives, works or goes to school in Mitchell, Avery, Watauga, Ashe, Alleghany, and Wilkes counties (plus guests traveling in their vehicle) is invited to visit for $1 per person during December with proof of local employment or residency. This year you have the option of paying $1 OR of bringing 1-2 cans of food per person for our Food Drive. All food donations will be distributed to High Country Food Pantries. Read more about it.

Towering 5,946 feet above northwest North Carolina, Grandfather Mountain is operated as a scenic travel attraction and is the only private park in the world designated by the United Nations as an International Biosphere Reserve. Marvel at 360-degree views of mountain ridge after mountain ridge retreating to the horizon and let our knowledgeable staff help you find your own perfect mountain adventure.

 


Ice, snow and high winds can frequently force us to close the attraction or to be open only "half way" to the Nature Museum and Animal Habitats.
